Webinar: Recognising Skin Cancers and Inflammatory & Infective Skin Diseases

Skin cancer rates in the UK are roughly doubling every decade. A large dermatology department at a hospital will have up to 200 urgent referrals per week on its 2-week-wait cancer screening path, only 10% of which may be cancer.

Recognition of skin cancer, especially melanoma, is important for better prognosis and early treatment. Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Sunita Gossain will be looking at the classifications and diagnosis of each type of cancer, and delving into the risks and benefits of the newer treatments now available when the disease is advanced.

Dr Gossain will also give us her specialist insight into spotting the signs of skin cancer and lesions, both benign and malignant, and advise when they are symptomatic or asymptomatic.

Common inflammatory and infective skin diseases, such as eczema/dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, rosacea and urticaria can also be difficult to diagnose and treat. In the second half of the evening, we will be discussing their nature and how to manage them. The danger to healthcare workers who are treating them is also a matter of contention and we will be debating whether there are risks involved.

We will send you an email with instructions to register and gain access to the webinar 'room' on the day of the event.
