  • 2. Book appointment

Frequently asked questions

Here are some of our most frequent questions regarding whole body MRI. If you need more information, please don’t hesitate to call us on 020 7042 1888 or email us at imaging@oryon.co.uk and we’d be more than happy to help.

Can I get a whole body MRI scan without a referral?

At Oryon you must have a referral to ensure you receive the most appropriate test and suitable aftercare.

Please call or email us at imaging@oryon.co.uk if you do not have a referral and we can connect you with one of our healthcare professionals who will provide you with a referral form in one working day.

What is included in the price?

Everything is included in the price. This covers connecting you to a healthcare professional, who will provide you with a referral, and the consultation fees. You will be required to pay an initial £125 for the consultation, and then pay the remainder when you book a scan with us. If you are not eligible to have a scan, we will refund the cost of the follow-up consultation, which is £50.

How effective is it at detecting cancer?

Whole body MRI can usually detect solid tumors greater than 1cm in size. When results show a higher risk, further tests will always be required to confirm any diagnosis.

Is the whole body MRI scan a diagnostic test?

The whole body MRI scan is not a diagnostic test and should not be used to investigate existing symptoms.

Will I need any tests prior to having the whole body MRI scan?

Further tests such as blood tests or diagnostic imaging scans may be recommended or required both prior to and after the whole body MRI scan. This requirement is assessed by the referring clinician during the pre-screening assessment and the post-screening follow-up.

Can I have additional regions scanned?

Yes, additional regions can be scanned at an additional cost, this will be discussed with you during the time of booking.

Who will my results be shared with?

Scan images will be sent to you and your referring clinician’s portal accounts immediately after the scan. A written report will be created in three working days and then sent directly to your referring clinician, who can discuss the report with you and provide a copy.
