Many thanks to those of you who told us to get Mr Bhupinder Mann, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, back for another talk! We’re delighted to announce that he has agreed to host this event with us on the 5th September, this time focusing on sport injuries to the knee.
Sports injuries of the knee might not be seen as a priority within the NHS, but to sporty people the knee really is important. This talk will cover the main important points of how to differentiate when a knee injury is ‘serious’, when it deserves further investigation with imaging and when to onward refer. It will also cover some of the logic behind the decision-making processes of what needs surgical treatment and when surgery should be contemplated, with particular reference to meniscal tears and ACL injuries.
This event will provide a tour around the injured knee, starting with who is likely to sustain an injury and why each type of injury occurs, including the mechanisms of injury, the patho-physiology of the injury itself and its associated trauma. Mr Mann will also discuss the diagnosis, investigation and early management of a range of sporting injuries commonly picked up among athletes of different levels.
We will cover:
