The Stiff and Painful Shoulder by Mr Tony Corner, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Corner will cover the main topics of frozen shoulder and shoulder arthritis including the latest developments, evidence and treatment techniques available for patients suffering from stiffness and pain.

Leg Pain: The Differential Diagnosis
- Aetiology & pathology
- Clinical features: history & examination
- Treatment options
by Mr James Langdon, Consultant Spinal Surgeon
Leg pain can be both spinal and non-spinal in origin. In this talk, Mr Langdon will outline the common causes of leg pain – both referred pain from spinal pathologies and also pain from a number of non-spinal conditions. He will discuss the presentations of spinal pathologies including disc prolapses, stenosis and spondylolisthesis, and will leave you better able to distinguish between the spinal and non-spinal causes of leg pain. Attendees will leave this talk with a greater understanding of these conditions, with increased confidence of the correct examination and diagnoses of these conditions. The Management of the Painful Wrist
by Mr Jeremy Read, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
An acutely injured wrist normally settles fairly promptly, and patients recognise this. Injuries either feel more serious from day one, and patients present to an Emergency Department, or they feel that it should settle, but it doesn’t. Mr Jeremy Read, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, has therefore designed this talk to offer his advice on how to handle patients coming into your clinic complaining of ongoing wrist pain.
The differential diagnosis for wrist conditions is wide, ranging from minor extrinsic ligament injury, through to more serious intrinsic ligament injury (scapholunate tears) and fractures (scaphoid) through to a tendinopathy which doesn’t settle. The safe management of these scenarios, will be discussed right up to the point where all investigations and even wrist arthroscopy are normal.
Mr Read will cover:

- History – relevant features
- Examination tips

by Mr Tim Waters, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Waters will demonstrate key points to look out for while examining the hip and knee, particularly what to look out for with problematic joint replacements.
This talk will include: lack of prehab; poor surgical techniques; missed red flags; and the wrong rehab. Degenerative Hips: Top tips for Management
