Football and The Foot: Injuries and their Management

Oryon Develop are pleased to welcome Mr Baljinder Dhinsa for this 2 hour evening event. Mr Dhinsa held the role of Academy Doctor at Charlton Athletic Football Club, which provided him with a wealth of experience in managing lower limb injuries in elite sports people.
Dr Dhinsa has designed this talk to discuss his top tips and tricks in the management of sport injuries to the foot. He aims to help de-mystify the 'unrecovering ankle', highlight pitfalls in our diagnosis decision making, clarify when and why to refer, and to explore injuries unique to football.
Conditions covered include:

  • Not-so innocent inversion injuries - when should we be concerned?
  • Overuse injuries: Achilles tendinopathy; stress fractures; metatarsalgia etc.
  • Ankle cartilage injuries
  • Lateral ligament instability

Mr Dhinsa will also discuss the latest treatment techniques - both surgical and conservative - for early return to sports following these often complex injuries.
You’ll kick yourself if you miss this one!

  • Clinical examination and diagnosis of the ankle and foot
  • Acute injuries and overuse injuries – how to recognise and treat both
  • Conservative and operative treatment options
  • Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention - what could we do better - tips and tricks
