Rakesh Sharma
Dr Rakesh Sharma is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton hospital. He qualified in 1995 with triple honours from Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals and was proxime accessit to the University of London Gold Medal.
Dr Sharma was awarded a British Heart Foundation fellowship to study his PhD in cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London. He won the Young Investigator Prize at the American Heart Association for his research.
Dr Rakesh Sharma is the cardiology lead for cardiac sarcoidosis at the Royal Brompton Hospital. He has specialist expertise in:
- Heart Failure
- Hypertension
- Arrhythmias
- Advanced pacing (including the implantation of biventricular pacemakers and defibrillators)
- Cardiac Sarcoidosis
- Cardio-Oncology
- Long Covid syndrome
