Saturday 7th November:

Mr Ali Shafighian is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder problems. He works in hand and upper limb surgery at a number of NHS hospitals and in other private practices.


Dr Rizwan Rajak is a Consultant Rheumatologist who has specialised in osteoporosis. He is an accomplished speaker, regularly lecturing to his peers in healthcare.


Mr Gary Maytham is a Consultant vascular surgeon. He is the Unit Lead for the treatment of Venous Disease at St Georges Vascular Institute and the Clinical Lead for Vascular Trauma at the Major Trauma Centre at St Georges Hospital, Tooting.

Mr Bobby Anand is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialism in knee surgery.


Mr Oliver Harley is a Consultant Plastic and Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in cosmetic surgery and hand and wrist surgery.


Mr Kumar Kunasingam is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspeciality in foot and ankle conditions. His background as a medically qualified and surgically trained sub-specialist in both orthopaedics and sports medicine allows him to holistically manage all aspects of foot and ankle problems.


Mr Amarjit Anand is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Mr Anand is a leading specialist knee surgeon in Surrey and London. He trained at University College London Medical School and graduated in 2002. His specialist orthopaedic training was in Cambridge and London.

Oliver Harley

Consultant Plastic And Orthopaedic Surgeon | London

Oliver Harley is a fully qualified, GMC registered specialist Plastic Surgeon with more than 18 years experience in Plastic Surgery. He specialises in Cosmetic Surgery and in Hand and Wrist Surgery. He is a full member of The British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), UK Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (UKAAPS) and The British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH).


After qualifying in medicine in 1998 at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals in London he has gained extensive experience in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery since 2002. Mr Harley completed his higher surgical training at St Thomas’ Hospital (London), St Georges Hospital (London) and Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead) and was awarded FRCSEd (Plastic Surgery) in 2009.


He has completed hand surgery fellowships fellowships at Wrightington Hospital, Lancashire and Erasmus MC University Hospital, Rotterdam 2011-2012). Previously he worked as an NHS consultant in plastic surgery in Plymouth, the John Radcliffe Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, and at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.


His passion and interest in Hand has led Mr Harley to participate in charitable surgical missions to Sierra Leone, Africa. He has organised and tutored for the Royal College of Surgeons Plastic, Reconstuctive and Aesthetic course series. Involvement in clinical research, winning conference prizes for research projects in finger joint replacements and abdominoplasty, has provided him with a deeper understanding of specialist topics. 


Mr Harley practices at North Downs Hospital (Caterham, Surrey), The McIndoe Centre (East Grinstead, Sussex), The Horder Centre (Corwborough, Sussex) and KIMS hospital (Sevenaoks and Maidstone, Kent). 

Rizwan Rajak

Consultant Rheumatologist | Surrey

Dr Rajak graduated with honours at Cardiff Medical School in 2005. He underwent training in the University Hospital of Wales which included specialist training in osteoporosis, early inflammatory arthritis, biological therapies, connective tissue disease/lupus, soft tissue rheumatism, and psoriatic arthritis/ankylosing spondylitis. Before relocating to London, he became a consultant at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, where he undertook training in musculoskeletal ultrasonography and specialist clinics in osteoporosis and metabolic Bone disorders.


He was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award in 2017 for developing the Osteoporosis service in Croydon and a Teaching Excellence Award in 2013 when he was Lead Clinical Tutor in Cardiff.


He is currently the Clinical Lead for Osteoporosis and Bone Health and Rheumatology Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in the Croydon Health Service NHS Trust. With the former he has developed a multidisciplinary integrated bone health service with colleagues from multiple medical and surgical specialities. With the latter, he has formed a diagnostic and interventional service and also set up a regional network with other centres in standardizing scanning practice and training. Furthermore, he was the co-lead in the development of the Early Inflammatory Arthritis service with the chief objective being to diagnose and treat inflammatory arthritis early, to preserve joint health and prevent long term damage, as per national best practice.


He has an extensive background in teaching, having been the Lead Clinical Tutor for Rheumatology at the University Hospital of Wales, and an Honorary Clinical Teacher at Cardiff University. He is currently the Course Director for Rheumatology for South Wales University which has involved writing the Diploma and Masters course material and examinations and tutoring. He regularly provides lectures, workshops and seminars to peers, GPs, health professionals and patients with a particular focus on promoting bone health and early management of arthritis.


To expand his skills base, he completed a Masters in Medical Law at Cardiff law school. Using this training he became the Chair for the Medicines Management Committee and Medicines Safety Group at Croydon Health Services with the remit of promoting optimal prescribing practice, reviewing medicines policies and guidelines and ensuring access to NICE approved medications.


His healthcare philosophy is to provide early diagnostics and prevention of rheumatic disorders, to respond to changes in health to achieve optimal and ‘tight control’ of disease and promote better understanding through education to empower health professionals and patients alike.


Gary Maytham

Consultant Vascular Surgeon | London

Mr Gary Maytham is a Consultant vascular surgeon. He is the Unit Lead for the treatment of Venous Disease at St Georges Vascular Institute and the Clinical Lead for Vascular Trauma at the Major Trauma Centre at St Georges Hospital, Tooting, London. He is also an Honorary Consultant at Epsom and St Heliers University Hospitals NHS Trust, and responsible for delivery of vascular services at Epsom Hospital. Mr Maytham’s practice includes the management of aneurysmal and carotid disease, the management of peripheral vascular disease, the management of varicose veins, as well as the management of vascular and torso trauma.

Kumar Kunasingam

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | Surrey

Mr Kunasingam graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital with a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Pathology and Genetics. Mr Kunasingam underwent sub-speciality training in foot and ankle surgery in Sydney, Australia which included minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques. Whilst in Sydney he was involved in the treatment of elite athletes.


He has also played college rugby and hockey at a high level and still plays club hockey when time allows. This passion for sport nurtured his interest and qualification in sports medicine after completing his orthopaedic training. He completed a second fellowship in trauma surgery at King’s College Hospital, a UK major trauma centre.


In 2015-2016, Mr Kunasingam and colleagues set up the Foot and Ankle Unit at Croydon University Hospital. His practice covers all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, striving for excellence using evidence-based methods. He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery, with the majority of his cases performed as day case procedures with quick recovery times.


His background as a medically qualified and surgically trained sub-specialist in both orthopaedics and sport medicine allows him to holistically manage all aspects of foot and ankle problems including the medical and recovery factors around it.
