Ian Currie was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 1997. His main NHS base is Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust at Stoke Mandeville where he is current the Divisional Chair for Women & Children's Services.
Stoke Mandeville is the National Spinal Injuries Unit for the UK situated in the heart of the Chilterns. He served as Vice President at the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists for 5 years between 2011-16 having contributed to many aspects of national initiatives in women’s health including chairing two recent working parties for the RCOG.
He is well known both locally and nationally for the treatment of many gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis as well as the management pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence and vaginal reconstructive surgery.
He was on the first national guideline development group for the NICE incontinence guidelines which form the basis of management for this condition across the UK. He has a wide gynaecological practice treating women form puberty to the menopause and beyond.
He practices privately both locally and in London and over the last few years he has lectured and taught in many countries such as Somaliland, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, Malaysia and Singapore.
