Mr Sivaraman is a full-time private consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon. He specialises in spinal surgery with a main interest in degenerative disorders of the spine including back and neck pain.
Mr Sivaraman had fellowship training in the treatment of spinal deformity, inflammatory spinal pathologies (rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis), degenerative conditions of the neck and lower back, spinal tumours and infections eg spinal tuberculosis.
He strongly believes in the active conservative management of various degenerative disorders with a team approach. As such he routinely offers various spinal injections including facet blocks, medial branch blocks, nerve blocks and radiofrequency rhizotomies.
During his training Mr Sivaraman worked as a visiting spinal fellow in Germany, the United States and India. He completed his spinal fellowship training at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, Middlesex under both orthopaedic and spinal neurosurgeons.
Mr Sivaraman worked as a consultant orthopaedic and spinal surgeon at Bart’s and The Royal London Hospital until late 2011. Now practising in the independent sector, he does continue to provide an NHS e-referral service for the management of back and neck pain patients.
He is the author of a spinal chapter in a medical text book and has published papers and routinely presented at various international conferences and meetings. Mr Sivaraman is part of faculty higher specialty training courses (FRCS Orth) in the UK and abroad.
