We will discuss techniques to ensure accuracy and reliability when conducting clinical examinations. In addition, attendees will gain a greater understanding of the “red-flags” to be aware of and how clinical examinations can be influential in diagnosis and patient wellbeing. 

There will be an overview of clinical examinations which can be applied to a significant proportion of foot and ankle problems. However, a particular attention will be given to conditions such as big toe arthritis, Morton’s neuroma, ankle instability and Achilles pain. Mr Sam Singh will provide important insights in the diagnosis of these conditions and the resulting next steps.

Attendees will have a better understanding of diagnosis for those conditions which are able to be identified by clinical examination alone. However, Mr Singh will also address the procedures that should be undertaken in situations where more than clinical examinations are required. It is important to have a good understanding of what to do when the clinical examination produces uncertain diagnoses and/or you believe the patient requires a referral onwards.
