Posted on Wed Aug 28, 2024

Whole body MRI offers a safe, non-invasive way to gain a comprehensive view into your body’s health. By using magnetic fields, it avoids radiation exposure, making it ideal for those seeking to proactively detect potential health issues early.

What are the benefits of our whole body MRI service?

There are several key benefits to choosing our Whole body MRI service:

  • Comprehensive health assessment: provides a full overview of your internal health in under two hours.
  • Early disease detection: identifies conditions like cancer, degenerative diseases, and neurological disorders.
  • Non-invasive and radiation-free: safe for use, making it ideal for those needing frequent monitoring.
  • Expert opinion: scans are dual-reported by our two specialised radiologists, ensuring the highest level of accuracy. Your referring clinician will receive your report in just three working days.
  • Advanced imaging using our versatile diagnostic tool: conducted on our state-of-the-art 3T MRI scanner, delivering high-resolution images and capable of detecting a wide range of conditions in a single scan.
  • Referrals: we only accept referrals from medically qualified clinicians to ensure you’re receiving quality and on-going care and to ensure that this scan is appropriate for you.

What can Whole body MRI detect?

Our Whole body MRI helps detect a variety of conditions. Here’s what it can reveal:

  • Solid tumours (usually sensitive to those >1cm in size)
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Non-cancerous conditions such as cysts, haematoma, haemangiomas, abscesses
  • Musculoskeletal issues
  • Spinal degeneration (when choosing our Whole body MRI Plus option)
What can you expect during your appointment?

Your Whole body MRI scan at Oryon Imaging is designed to be a smooth and efficient process:

Initial consultation: your referring clinician should provide a consultation to deem whether it’s appropriate for you to have a scan. This may include, but is not limited to, your family and medical history and other relevant assessments. They should also communicate the advantages and disadvantages to help you make an informed decision.

If you’re a patient and you don’t have a referral, we can connect you with one of our GPs.  If you’re a clinician and you’re looking to refer a patient, please download our referral form and email the referral to our team.

Arrival and check-in: your appointment takes place at our conveniently located Dover Street clinic in Central London. The entire visit, from check-in to departure, will take about two hours.

The scan: the MRI scan itself lasts 80-100 minutes, during which you’ll lay comfortably while the machine captures detailed images of your body.

Follow-up consultation: in three working days, your report will be shared with the referring clinician who will discuss the results with you.

How much does a Whole body MRI scan cost?
