WBMRI Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply specifically to the Whole Body MRI imaging service provided by Oryon Imaging and should be read alongside Oryon Imaging’s general website Terms & Conditions.
1. Nature of the service
Oryon Imaging provides diagnostic imaging services.
Whole Body MRI is offered as an imaging service that produces MRI images of selected regions of the body at a single point in time. Despite the name, the scan does not image the entire body.
Screening imaging is intended to identify potential areas of concern that may require further clinical assessment, but it does not provide a diagnosis and does not rule out disease. This is a non-contrast and non-targeted study that is for use in close clinical consultation. It does not replace standard screening tests such as breast or prostate screening.
2. Regions scanned
Whole Body MRI imaging at Oryon Imaging is limited to the following regions:
• Brain
• Neck
• Chest
• Abdomen
• Pelvis
An optional Spine Plus add-on may include imaging of the spine.
No other body regions are assessed as part of the Whole Body MRI screening service. This is a non contrast study so will not be optimised to detect or highlight all pathologies.
3. Conditions that may be identified
Based on imaging appearances, Whole Body MRI screening may identify features consistent with, but not limited to:
• Solid tumours (over 1 cm in size)
• Fatty liver disease
• Non-cancerous cysts or abscesses
• Certain musculoskeletal conditions
• Spinal degeneration (Spine Plus option only)
The ability to identify these findings depends on multiple factors, including size, location, imaging characteristics, and clinical context.
The scan cannot detect all cancers or medical conditions, and absence of findings does not exclude disease.
4. GP referral and clinical responsibility
A clinical referral is required for all Whole Body MRI scans at Oryon Imaging.
The referring clinician is responsible for:
• Determining whether the scan is appropriate
• Explaining the nature, purpose, and limitations of screening
• Managing patient expectations prior to referral
• Interpreting the radiology report in clinical context
• Advising on follow-up, monitoring, or further investigation
– Advising and managing any follow up questions.
Oryon Imaging does not provide clinical consultations as part of the Whole Body MRI screening pathway. This is an independent service from Oryon.
5. Limitations of Whole Body MRI imaging
Whole Body MRI imaging
• Does not assess all organs or body systems
• Cannot detect microscopic, early cellular, or biochemical disease
• Cannot identify all cancers or abnormalities.
• Cannot predict future illness or health outcomes
A normal or unremarkable screening result does not guarantee current or future health.
6. No cancer screening programme
Whole Body MRI at Oryon Imaging:
• Is not a population cancer screening programme
• Is not designed to exclude cancer
• Does not replace NHS screening programmes, blood tests, physical examination, or routine medical care
The scan may highlight abnormalities requiring further assessment, but absence of findings does not exclude disease.
7. Radiology reports
Radiology reports are prepared by appropriately two qualified radiologists and are based on:
• The images obtained
• The information provided at the time of referral
Reports:
• Are addressed to the referring clinician
• Describe imaging appearances only
• Do not constitute a diagnosis
• Require interpretation by the referring doctor
Any recommendations for further investigation must be assessed and actioned by the referring clinician.
8. Incidental and indeterminate findings
Whole Body MRI screening may identify incidental or indeterminate findings that:
• Are benign
• Are of uncertain clinical significance
• Do not require treatment
• May lead to further tests, monitoring, or referral
Oryon Imaging is not responsible for the clinical, emotional, or financial consequences of incidental findings or subsequent investigations.
9. Limit of Oryon Imaging’s responsibility
Oryon Imaging’s responsibility is limited to:
• Performing the MRI scan
• Producing screening images
• Providing a radiology report based on those images
Oryon Imaging does not:
• Diagnose medical conditions
• Provide treatment advice
• Recommend management or lifestyle changes
• Monitor patient outcomes
• Assume responsibility for future health events
The screening result reflects imaging appearances, within the confines of the study parameters only at the time of scanning.
10. Future illness and retrospective findings
Oryon Imaging is not responsible for:
• Conditions that develop after the scan
• Conditions not visible or detectable at the time of imaging
• Delayed or future diagnoses
A later diagnosis does not imply that the condition was present, detectable, or identifiable at the time of imaging
11. Educational content and online talks
Educational content, webinars, and online talks relating to Whole Body MRI are provided for general information only.
Such content:
• Does not constitute medical advice
• Does not create a doctor–patient relationship
• Does not replace consultation with a clinician
Where speakers are external clinicians, their views are their own and do not represent the views of Oryon Imaging.
12. Patient responsibilities
By proceeding with Whole Body MRI imaging, patients confirm that they:
• Understand the regions scanned and the limitations of screening imaging
• Have discussed the scan with their GP
• Will not rely solely on the scan for reassurance or medical decision-making
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
Subject to this, Oryon Imaging’s liability is limited to losses arising directly from a failure to perform the imaging service with reasonable care and skill.
14. Acceptance
Booking or undergoing a Whole Body MRI scan constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
