How to refer for imaging

Simple. Fast. Built Around the Way You Work.

Referring a patient for imaging shouldn’t slow you down. Whether you refer every day or occasionally, we’ve designed our service to give you clarity, control and confidence at every step.

Who is this page for?

This page is for qualified healthcare professionals who occasionally need imaging to support patient care. We get referrals from physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, sports therapists or other healthcare practitioners who don’t refer for scans every week, but when they do, we’re here to make the process easy.

When imaging is needed to clarify a diagnosis, guide rehabilitation or rule out underlying pathology, we’re here to make the process straightforward, supportive and clinically useful.

We’re here to make it straightforward

You don’t need to be an imaging specialist—that’s our role. We provide guidance on structuring referrals, friendly clinical support when advice is needed, and clear, practical radiologist reports that can be tailored for non-specialist referrers. We also offer guidance on when to seek onward referral, with rapid reporting to help you progress your patient’s treatment plan with confidence.

A simple three-step approach to referring for a scan

Imaging is there to support your clinical reasoning. Here’s a straightforward framework to help you decide how and when to refer.

1. Clarify the clinical question

Before referring ask: what am I trying to confirm or exclude? A clear clinical hypothesis leads to more focused imaging and diagnosis. Our team will review all referrals and if the clinical question is unclear they will support with establishing the requirement.

2. Right type of imaging

For many musculoskeletal presentations, MRI provides detailed soft tissue and structural assessment without radiation exposure. If you’re unsure which scan is most appropriate, our team can guide you before referral.

3. Give clear referral instruction

A concise but specific referral helps the radiographer capture the right images. Our referral form guides you step by step through the right questions including patient history, symptom duration, key findings and your own working hypothesis.

Our portal gives you full visibility and control, allowing you to manage and amend bookings easily, access transparent pricing for self-funding patients, secure premium same-day appointments when needed, and view all images and reports in one place.
