A knee MRI can help explain pain, swelling, reduced movement or injuries from sport or daily activity.

Private spine MRI scan

A spine MRI is ideal if you’re experiencing back or neck pain, nerve symptoms, sciatica or stiffness.

Private brain MRI scan

A brain MRI is used to investigate symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, visual changes, memory issues or neurological concerns.

Private shoulder MRI scan

If you’re experiencing shoulder pain, weakness, restricted movement or symptoms after an injury, a shoulder MRI can help.

Private ankle MRI scan

An ankle MRI is suitable for persistent pain, swelling, instability or injuries that aren’t improving.

What is an MRI scan?

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRIs are safe and completely painless; they use a magnetic field and radio waves to help your doctor make a diagnosis by building up a detailed picture of the inside of your body.

Many clinicians prefer MRI scans to other scan types because they provide a wealth of information without the involvement of radiation and can be used to investigate almost any part of the body.

Our scanners

Our MRI scanners are situated in spacious air-conditioned rooms. The machine itself is a tube-shaped magnet that is open at both ends.

We use a 1.5T scanner at our clinic on Wimpole Street and 3T scanners at our locations on Dover Street and Harley Street. For more information see our blog on 1.5T vs 3T MRI machines.

What to expect at your MRI scan

From the moment you arrive, our friendly team will guide you through every step of your MRI scan.

You’ll be looked after by experienced professionals in a calm, comfortable environment, with clear explanations throughout. The scan is painless, and we’re always on hand to help you feel relaxed and reassured.
