Because UK regulations require diagnostic scans to be requested by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. Your practitioner makes sure that:

Fast Track Referrals start from £25. A referral is not guaranteed and any scan is booked and charged separately. If the clinician decides that imaging is not appropriate and no suitable alternative is offered, the £25 referral fee will be refunded.

Not always. Every request is reviewed by a qualified healthcare professional. If they determine that imaging isn’t clinically appropriate, or require more information before making a decision, they will contact you.

Reports are typically available within one working day after your scan. Your referring healthcare professional will discuss the findings with you and explain any recommended next steps. You’ll also receive access to your images and report for future healthcare appointments.
If your results indicate that additional investigations, treatment or specialist care are recommended, your referring healthcare professional will explain your options. Additional consultations or onward referrals may incur separate charges.
No. The Fast Track Referral Service is intended for routine diagnostic imaging and should not be used if you require urgent medical attention. If you think you’re experiencing a medical emergency, call 999 or attend your nearest Emergency Department immediately.
