Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | Bristol

Mr Jason Webb is a leading hip replacement surgeon who is renowned internationally as an expert in the prevention of joint replacement infection. His clinical experience is extremely advanced and with his focused approach he qualifies as one of the leading hip surgeons in the region.

He has performed extensive research in the field of joint replacement infection and has an international reputation as being an expert in this field.

Mr Webb is regularly invited to teach internationally on the treatment and prevention of infection in orthopaedic surgery and has been awarded a higher degree by the University of Bristol for his thesis on the treatment of infection.

He has an honorary status within the University of Bristol in recognition of his teaching and research commitment.

Mr Jason Webb was born and brought up in Bristol; he attended Clifton College before going on to study medicine at Bristol University. He was a junior doctor in Bristol before moving to London to undertake his surgical training. He returned to Bristol for his senior training and his first consultant role. He still lives in Bristol and is married with two teenage children. His interests include classical civilisation, hiking, swimming and cycling.

Ian Harding

Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon | Bristol

Mr Harding is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon. His prime interests are spinal deformity, back pain, tumours, fractures, infection and degenerative disease of the spine in both children and adults.

Both operative and non-operative treatment modalities are offered, with treatment being individualised to each patient.

He practices in both Bristol NHS Trusts as well as Weston Super Mare. Mr Harding obtained 1st class honours degree at Worcester College, Oxford and continued his basic orthopaedic training there. His specialist spinal training was also in Oxford, The Institute Calot (France) and Seattle (USA).

John Hardy

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | Bristol

Mr Hardy has 34 years of experience as a doctor and surgeon. John is in particular an Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon interested in the management of knee injury to prevent arthritis, with a speciality training in the cure of coccydynia of the coccyx and the management of gout.

John is young enough to appreciate and take on the new developments that benefit his patients and old enough to have enjoyed the experience of a classical training and career in the NHS in London, Leicester and Bristol at the world renowned AOC.

Mr Hardy consults at the Chelsea Outpatient Centre in the Kings Road, London, the Lister Hospital, London the BUPA Cromwell Hospital, London and at the Sport and Orthopaedic Clinic in Bristol.

Many of his patients say how they appreciate the time and careful assessment he gives them.

Iain Packham

Mr Iain Packham is a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow problems and their treatment, both non-operative and surgical. 

Mr Packham is a consultant at North Bristol NHS Trust, where he works in the Avon Orthopaedic Centre and the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. 

Mr Packham works privately as part of the Sports and Orthopaedic Clinic, Bristol at the Spire Hospital, Bristol and at the Chesterfield Hospital, Nuffiled Health, Bristol.

Iain is married with two young sons. He maintains a keen sporting interest and has been involved competitively in a number of sports including athletics and rugby. He has international qualifications in sailing (RYA) and Scuba diving (PADI) and is a qualified ski instructor (BASI).

Rouin Amirfeyz

Consultant Hand And Elbow Surgeon | Bristol

Mr Amirfeyz completed his higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics on Bristol Rotation. During this time he developed an interest in upper limb surgery, specifically elbow, wrist and hand surgery. He therefore underwent sub-speciality training in Nottingham (interface hand fellowship) and Sheffield (revision elbow shoulder and elbow surgery and sports surgery).

Mr Amirfeyz has been appointed as a consultant upper limb surgeon in Bristol Royal Infirmary. His practice comprises of both secondary and tertiary elective and trauma referrals. These include rheumatoid surgery, osteoarthritis surgery, joint replacement, complex fracture management, arthroscopy and sports surgery. He has a special interest in research, has published more than 45 peer-reviewed articles and he has also authored a number of key chapters in orthopaedic textbooks.

Hywel Davies

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | Bristol

Mr Hywel Davies has been a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Bristol Since 2009. He holds NHS appointments at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, where he performs trauma surgery and at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital where he performs planned elective surgery. He runs the clinic for acute knee injuries at the BRI.

Hywel’s main surgical interest is reconstructive surgery of the knee and sports injuries. He performs the full range of knee surgery with repair of damaged ligaments, cartilage and menisci. He also operates on the degenerating knee performing full joint replacements, revision surgery and unicompartmental replacements, whenever possible just replacing the effected part of the knee. He also performs joint replacement of the hip and has an interest in foot and ankle surgery.

During his Orthopaedic training Hywel undertook a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine. Spending extra time in sports medicine clinics and learning from experts in allied professions such as Physiotherapy, Physiology and Psychology. This gives him a balanced approach to his practice. He also performed a research thesis in exercise-induced pain of the lower leg.

Hywel maintains a keen interest in sport. He competes in Triathlon and running recently performing the UK Half Ironman. When time permits he skis and mountain bikes. Increasingly though he is cheering his 3 kids on from the side-lines. Hywel has previously rowed at a high level for a number of clubs and Imperial College. He represented Wales at senior level. Subsequently he played club rugby until he became too soft! He lives locally with his wife and 3 children.
