Suresh Chandrashekar

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | London

Mr Chandrashekar graduated from the University of Mumbai, India in 2001 and later undertook residency training in General Surgery and Trauma & Orthopaedics at St. Petersburg state paediatric medical academy, Russia between 2001and 2004 – qualifying with a M.S. Degree in Orthopaedics and Traumatology.

Mr Chandrashekar’s further training in trauma and orthopaedics has seen him in rotation across various subspecialty firms in Manchester, Harlow (Essex) and Royal London Hospital (NHS). He successfully passed the Royal College of Surgeons exams securing the Fellowship Diploma for FRCS (Orth) and went on to undertake sub-speciality fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic surgery.

Mr Chandrashekar is passionate about teaching and actively trains medical students and orthopaedic trainees as well as acting as an examiner for The Royal College of Surgeons in England Revision courses. He has extensive experience in Foot and Ankle surgery with a specialist interest in sports injuries.

Mr Chandrashekar practices minimally invasive surgery and supports enhanced patient recovery and early rehabilitation. He is committed to research projects for foot surgery and has peer-reviewed publications, successfully presenting at medical conferences. Besides speaking English as a first language, he is fluent in Hindi, Tamil and caters to Russian speaking clients as well.

Andrew Phillips

Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon | London

Mark is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hands & wrists. He was an NHS Consultant at King’s College Hospital from 2003-2015 where he was Ortho-Plastics lead, Governance lead for Major Trauma and had a research interest in fracture healing. He left the NHS in 2015 to concentrate on his private practice at London Sports Orthopaedics, where he is a Partner and Medical Director.

Henry Atkinson

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | London

Henry is Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in the lower limb. Henry joined London Sports Orthopaedics in 2009 where he has a part-time private practice. He combines this with his full-time Consultant and Divisional Director roles at North Middlesex University Hospital.


Henry is Fellowship trained in Sports Injury Surgery; Hip and Knee Replacement and Revision Surgery, Arthroscopy, Meniscal and Ligament Reconstruction, Foot and Ankle Surgery and Ankle Replacement Surgery.


Henry has a keen interest in research and medical education. He has published over 80 original scientific journal articles, and has over 200 other publications. Henry is committed to excellence in patient care and believes that research, development and audit are important components to the promotion of high quality healthcare in the UK. He is proud that he has been able to share these ideals and important developments with the wider medical community.


He was honoured with the NHS Clinical Excellence Award in May 2012.

Ian McDermott

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | London

Ian is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising purely in just knees. Ian left the NHS in 2007 and in 2008 he founded London Sports Orthopaedics practice, which is now one of the UK’s leading private orthopaedic and sports injuries practices.


Ian specialises in complex knee cases, and about 50% of his caseload is 2nd (3rd, or umpteenth!) opinions, complex multiple reconstructions or complex revision cases.


Ian was the youngest ever surgeon to be elected as a Council Member and Trustee of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Since 2004 has been an Honorary Professor Associate in the School of Sport & Education at Brunel University. He is also the founder and the current President of the UK Biological Knee Society.


Ian has pioneered the use the custom-made knees in the UK, and he was the first surgeon in the UK to implant a Conformis custom-made prosthesis. Ian is now part of the UK Surgical Visitation Program for Conformis, with London Bridge Hospital being a designated Training Centre for teaching UK surgeons the techniques for implanting custom-made knees.

Peter Hill

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | London

Peter is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knees. Peter joined London Sports Orthopaedics in 2017.

Peter completed his orthopaedic training in the Armed Forces studying on the Oxford, Cambridge and London training rotations and has done several tours of duty in military trauma hospitals in the Middle East. He has now left the Army to concentrate on his private knee practice and academic interests and also works in the National Health Service.

Peter has been honoured with several awards including the Army’s Montefiore Memorial Prize and Medal for excellence in surgery as well as the Sir Walter Langdon-Brown Prize for his Master of Surgery (MChir) thesis at Cambridge University.
He is a member of British Orthopaedic Research Society, British Association for Surgery of the Knee and British Orthopaedic Association. Peter was also visiting knee surgeon to the Defence Medical Services Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court until 2016.

Vipin Asopa

Consultant Trauma And Orthopaedic Surgeon | London

Vipin is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hips and knees. Vipin set up his private practice at London Sports Orthopaedics in 2017. He combines this with his NHS commitments as Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at North Middlesex University Hospital.

Vipin is fellowship trained in sports surgery and lower limb arthroplasty and specialist hip surgery, which he completed at SportsMed SA, in Adelaide, Australia and at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. He also completed specialist trauma fellowship training in Vienna

Vipin specialises in custom-made knee replacements; hip replacements and sporting injuries.

Vipin also has a PhD in articular cartilage biology and has published 18 original scientific publications. He is the Clinic Audit and Theatre User Group Lead, and caries out various service improvement projects in his NHS capacity

Ahmed Ibrahim

Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon | London

Ahmed is an award winning consultant neurosurgeon with a special interest in treating spinal conditions such as neck pain and, arm pain, back pain, arm or leg weakness, spinal tumours, slipped disc and slipped vertebrae. Ahmed is currently the lead consultant for spinal tumours (metastatic spinal cord compression) and is actively engaged in improving treatment for spinal patients at Queen’s hospital.

Ahmed completed medical training at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital in London and went on to achieve a competitive entry into neurosurgical training in North Thames in London. Ahmed went on to conduct a highly regarded laboratory based stem-cell research in the treatment of spinal paralysis, which led to landmark peer-reviewed publications and an award of a PhD from UCL.

Ahmed was honoured with multiple awards including best fellow Zimmer award, best presentations at the14th AO fellows award, best international AANS/CNS Crockard fellow,1st place award in SpineFest, University of Toronto and best resident/fellow presentation at the Cervical Spine Research Society North America.

Ahmed was also an invited faculty at the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons conference, 2016.

Ben Huntley

Consultant In Pain Medicine | London

Dr Ben Huntley is a Consultant in Pain Medicine at London Sports Orthopaedic. A skilled interventionalist with a multi-disciplinary approach, Dr Huntley believes in an inclusive approach to Pain Management. By listening, explanation and with judicious use of intervention and prescription Dr Huntley believes a unified, logical approach to Pain Management serves the patient best.

Dr Huntley studied medicine at the University of Birmingham where he was awarded the Arthur Thompson Special Prize for his research. He completed his training in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at the Bristol School of Anaesthesia where he won the Head of School Award for Outstanding Achievement.

He is now employed as a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust where he is responsible for leading the modernisation of the Pain Service, recruitment of a multidisciplinary pain management team and development of a Pain Management Programme.

Dr Huntley has worked with Consultant colleagues in Palliative Care Medicine to develop a referral pathway for patients requiring Interventional Pain Treatments in the management of their complex cancer pain.

Dr Huntley has extensive experience in Interventional Pain Management including spinal injection and radiofrequency treatments.

Verona Beckles

Consultant Upper Limb & Trauma Surgeon | London

Miss Verona Beckles is a Consultant Upper Limb and Trauma Surgeon specialising in arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery.

Verona graduated as a doctor from Imperial College School of Medicine, London in 2000.

Verona completed her Specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Rotation, where she worked in hospitals including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Barts and the Royal London Hospitals. During her training she worked as a Clinical fellow at the Beit CURE International Hospital, in Blantyre, Malawi. She was awarded her Certificate of Completion of Training in 2014 and entered onto the GMC Specialist Register.

She has been post CCT -fellowship trained in Upper Limb Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital and Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgery at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospital, Surrey.

In 2018, Verona was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
She has published peer-reviewed articles on chronic haematogenous osteomyelitis in children and has also co-authored articles related to shoulder surgery.

During her training she also completed an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine focusing her dissertation on vehicle safety strategy in the prevention of road traffic trauma.
