Julian Widdowson

Dr Widdowson trained at University College Hospital, London. He has over 20 years of experience in Sport and Exercise Medicine, and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. He is also the Sport Physician to the Royal Ballet School, White Lodge.

Julian is the team doctor for Gloucester Rugby and was the team doctor for Bath Rugby for 12 years, having been Head of Sports Medicine at Bath Rugby for five years. He worked for England Rugby Football Union for ten years and at present works for the Welsh Rugby Union. He was instrumental in setting up the role of the Independent Match Day Doctor (MDD) in Rugby Union in Concussion Management and is one of the MDDs at Twickenham. He is the Clinical lead for the South West hub of the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science. He was one of the lead SEM doctors track side at the athletic track in the Olympic Stadium for the London Olympics and was the Match Day Doctor for the Olympic Stadium in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

He is experienced in cycling, working with professional international cyclists as well as the keen amateur, and is passionate about cycling and its benefit for health.

Julian works with many track and field athletes and is the TASS doctor for international athletes based at the University of Bath.

Julian consults at Schoen Clinic London, a specialist Orthopaedic hospital opened in August 2018.
