Mr Datta specialises in all forms of knee and hip surgery; including soft tissue and joint preserving surgery, arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty. In addition, he is the regional lead for pelvic and acetabular reconstruction providing a tertiary referral service for the Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire areas in this complex field of expertise, which is centralised at UHS . Gorav is also the sarcoma lead at UHS, assessing patients with new primary bone and soft tissue malignancies and treating patients with secondary malignancies.
Gorav provides innovative treatments to patients including growth factor treatments in chronic tendinopathies and osteoarthritis, and hip joint preserving surgery (hip arthroscopy and femoral head resculpting).
Gorav is actively involved in research having completed his Doctorate of Medicine (MD) research degree at Imperial College London.
He has numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and is actively involved in teaching of undergraduates and surgical trainees at UHS. He supervises medical students in their BMed Sciences projects, and has recently been made Trauma research lead at UHS.
Gorav was educated at St Paul’s School in London and read medicine at University College London. He enjoys most sports and plays golf, football, and cricket regularly for local teams. Gorav lives locally in Southampton with his wife and four children.
