He trained in Surgery in London and Bristol, obtaining MRCS in 2006. Dr Shah trained in Radiology at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals, London, attaining FRCR in 2010. He is double-fellowship trained in Musculoskeletal Radiology from Oxford and Toronto. He has particular expertise in sports imaging, having worked as an MSK radiologist at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, 2014, European Games in Baku, 2015, World Athletics Championships in London, 2017, and Asian Indoor Games in Ashgabat, 2017. He has lectured at general and musculoskeletal radiology meetings throughout his career, and has several peer-reviewed publications in the radiology literature, as well as presentations at local, national, and international radiology meetings. Dr Shah's NHS base is Northwick Park Hospital in London. His private practice is based in London, in particular at Wellington and St. John and St. Elizabeth Hospitals.

He has vast experience in reporting MSK MRI and performing MSK ultrasound scans, numbers of which exceed 5000 every year. Working closely with surgeons and rheumatologists has enabled him to continuously improve the accuracy of his MRI reports. He is passionately involved in the training and education of radiologists, being both a clinical and educational supervisor for general and MSK radiology trainees, as well as interviewing on radiology registrar and consultant recruitment panels since 2014. He has been involved in the quality assurance of radiology training by representing the PMETB (and later GMC) on deanery visits and panels during his career.

He regularly takes part in at least 5 MDT meetings across various hospitals, working closely with professionals including orthopaedic surgeons, sports physicians, rheumatologists, physiotherapists and radiologists.

Patient experience, quality improvement and clear communication have always been the cornerstone of his practice. His QI project entitled 'How to measure the perfect radiology report' has been selected for presentation at RSNA 2021 in Chicago this year, introducing novel concepts such as quality metrics into radiology reports, a subject he has been keenly promoting throughout his career.
