David Stock

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | Buckinghamshire

David has been a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital since January 2001, with a specialist interest in the lower limb.

His specialist Orthopaedic training was based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore and he was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in May 1999. David completed a fellowship in arthroplasty and sports medicine at SPORTSMED.SA, Adelaide, South Australia.

He has been Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon at Northampton Saints Rugby Club since 2004. He play(ed) many sports and represented England in the Rugby Students World Cup in 1988 and played for Saracens Rugby Football Club first XV. This sporting background allows him to understand the effect an injury has both physically and psychologically on an athlete. He has obtained a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine.

His work is divided between NHS commitments and his private practice. This involves both primary and revision (redo) joint replacement of the hip and knee. David has a special interest in knee ligament, meniscal and chondral injuries. He looks after an ever increasing number of children/ adolescents with sports and overuse injuries. Management of trauma plays a significant part of his NHS workload.

Privately David operates at The Three Shires Hospital and The Woodlands Hospital. He opened a private clinic, The County Clinic, with Professor Bill Ribbans. The County Clinic endeavours to optimise the health and well-being of all its patients through the application of evidence-based modern medical and surgical practice.
 

Babur Mahmood

Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon | Buckinghamshire

Mr Mahmood graduated from University of Southampton in 1995. He underwent Basic Surgical Training in Southampton and Colchester. He was an Anatomy Demonstrator at University of Cambridge. He completed his Higher Surgical Training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore Training Scheme. He achieved his subspecialty training in Spinal Surgery at Stanmore with further consolidation with Fellowships at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Oxford University Hospitals.

Mr Mahmood was appointed as a Consultant Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in 2014. His current NHS and private practices are exclusively in Spinal Surgery. He deals with all aspects of spinal surgery (including degenerative, deformity, tumour, trauma and infection) from cervical, thoracic to lumbosacral spine.

Amitabh Dwyer

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon | Buckinghamshire

Mr Dwyer is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with an elective and emergency practice sub-specialising in the shoulder and elbow surgery. He did my advanced surgical fellowship in shoulder & elbow surgery at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital, Bristol (2013).

His particular interests include arthroscopic shoulder surgery for conditions including rotator cuff tears, recurrent instability and dislocated acromio-clavicular joints. He has experience of all types of shoulder replacement. Mr Dwyer also specialises in upper & lower limb trauma surgery.

Mr Dwyer did his basic medical training at Christian Medical College (1987-1993) in India. He spent 2 years working as a medical officer in rural mission hospitals in India (1993-1995). He undertook higher surgical training as a specialist registrar in Trauma & Orthopaedics at Christian Medical College, India (1995-1998). He worked at Christian Medical College, India as a Lecturer & Reader in Orthopaedics; practicing and training medical students and specialist registrars (1999-2004). Mr Dwyer then trained at Yeovil in the Severn Deanery and obtained FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2007 from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He is married with two young daughters and lives in Milton Keynes. He speaks English and Hindi fluently. Mr Dwyer enjoys spending time with his young family, swimming, travelling and listening to music.

Arul Ramasamy

Consultant Foot And Ankle Surgeon | Buckinghamshire

Mr Arul Ramasamy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Foot and Ankle surgery. He qualified from Cambridge University in 2000 before going on to gain a wealth of experience and knowledge in a number of different doctor posts. Mr Ramasamy also attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to complete Officer Training and then undertook 2 years as a Regimental Medical Officer to the Light Infantry. He has been on operational service in Iraq and Afghanistan and continues to serve in the British Army.

Mr Ramasamy completed a PhD in foot and ankle trauma within the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. He then undertook further orthopaedic training in Birmingham working at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (University Hospital Birmingham) and the world-renowned Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Having completed his orthopaedic training, he subsequently undertook specialist foot and ankle fellowships at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. He was also appointed to the prestigious sports foot and ankle fellowship at Fortius Clinic London, where he gained significant experience in the management of professional sports injuries. During his training, he was also awarded post graduate qualifications in Sports Medicine, Humanitarian Medicine and Medical Education. 

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Ramasamy continues to have a strong academic profile, publishing over 50 peer reviewed academic papers and book chapters. He is a Senior Lecturer within the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London and currently supervises numerous PhD students. He has won numerous prizes and grants relating to his research, and he was recently awarded the highly prestigious ABC (American-British-Canadian) Travelling Fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association to present his work in North America.

Mr Ramasamy has been an Orthopaedic Consultant on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council since 2017, and holds a consultant appointment at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust.

 

Michael Wardlaw

Podiatric Surgeon | Buckinghamshire

Mr Wardlaw is an experienced clinician with a wide range of hospital and community posts, over 37 years, as a podiatrist and over 11 years as one of only 60 Consultant Podiatric Surgeons employed by the NHS in the UK.

Mr Wardlaw performs a wide range of foot surgery for various conditions including osteotomies for hallux valgus, arthrodeses for hallux rigidus, arthroplasties for hammer toe deformities, excision of soft tissue masses eg ganglions, lesser metatarsal osteotomies for painful plantar lesions, Morton’s neuroma excisions etc. 

He also performs steroid injections and provides orthotics.
