Pelvic pain can be sudden and severe or chronically affect patients. From pregnancy-related issues to endometriosis and hormonal imbalances, be the first to find the root cause and help your patient get an accurate diagnosis and early treatment.

Dr Deepak Ravindran, Consultant in Pain Medicine, will be joining us for another highly requested talk on the management of pelvic pain. He aims to present an overview of the pain system around the pelvis and will delve into the physiological and psychological mechanisms involved.

Beginning with a summary of the pain system around the pelvis, Dr Ravindran will be exploring the aetiologies and structures that can cause pain in the pelvis.

Many conditions can be associated with pain in this area, and we will be honing in on the more chronic or long-term pathophysiologies. For instance, Dr Ravindran will be exploring the role of hormonal imbalance and how pain can be present in the absence of structural issues. We will also be looking at investigations and case studies of laparoscopy and scans, where often the signs could be missed.

Endometriosis care has recently been criticised, with an average 8-year gap from initial consultation to diagnosis. Be able to understand the early signs and symptoms and how we can conservatively manage it, as well as other pain conditions in this webinar. For instance, we will be looking at hormonal therapies, pain killers and specialist pain medications.

Moreover, a pain-free mindset is important in overcoming the pain from a psychological perspective, complementing physical and oral therapies. Dr Ravindran will be diving into the practical application of mental pain science and evidence with an integrative person-centred approach.

  • Mechanisms of pain around the pelvic area
