CPD on your mind? Give yourself some brain food with our first ever neurology masterclass!

Join four trailblazing speakers in different fields to learn about investigations, diagnosis and treatment of strokes, spinal cord disorders, headaches and dementia.

You’ll gain 5 hours’ CPD, have the opportunity to network with colleagues and speakers, and get the recording to watch at your convenience afterwards.

Neuroradiology of Stroke – Dr Jean Marie U-King-Im, Consultant Neuroradiologist

Dr Jean Marie U-King-Im will be reviewing the aetiology, imaging diagnosis and clinical presentation of patients with strokes. Using case studies, we will be examining imaging of the brain with MRI and CT scans, identifying the markers and red flags to look out for. We will also touch upon the detrimental consequences of strokes and new diagnostic and treatment advances available for patients.

Headaches & Dizziness for Allied Healthcare Professionals - Dr Tabish Saifee, Consultant Neurologist

Allied Healthcare Professionals must consider the causes of headaches and dizziness in order to differentiate between primary and secondary symptoms, make an accurate diagnosis and spot more serious red flags. Dr Tabish Saifee will be exploring quick assessment of the dizzy patient for AHPs. We will also be examining the medical and holistic approaches to treating common headache disorders and management of the common causes of dizziness, including positional manoeuvres.

New Developments in Dementia - Dr Mashkur Khan, Consultant Physician

Dr Mashkur Khan, who has an interest in memory loss and cognitive conditions such as Dementia, will be giving us the latest updates in research and treatment modalities. With a better understanding of the pathophysiology of Dementia, new treatments have been launched after 20 years of research. For example, we will be examining one on its way that will tackle the Tau Protein. We will also be delving into preventing Dementia, which is another area in the field that is currently expanding and looking to the future.

Managing Lumbar Disc Disease - Professor David Choi, Consultant Neurosurgeon

Lumbar disc disease, depending on the site of the degenerated disc, could cause symptoms such as low back pain, weakness, numbness, radiating leg pain and even loss of bladder and bowel control. Some may be more at risk than others, for instance, those who are elderly or inactive, although it can be made worse by movement. Join Professor David Choi to understand the condition from a Neurosurgeon’s perspective. We will be delving into assessment and diagnostic modalities, such as X-Ray, MRI, Myelogram, CT and EMG. Identifying how to reduce pain and risk of further injury to the spine, we will be discussing the key treatment options and when to refer for surgery, understanding how complex and simple surgery can help.

  • Headaches & Dizziness
  • Dementia
  • Lumbar Disc Disease
