Radicular Pain & Sciatica - Dr Serge Nikolic, Consultant in Pain Medicine
Our hugely popular speaker, Dr Serge Nikolic, joins us to discuss the topic of radicular pain and sciatica. Enhance your knowledge on the epidemiology, history, examination and investigations to carry out for differential diagnosis, and the red flags to be aware of, such as bilateral sciatica. Dr Nikolic will be using case histories and examples to demonstrate diagnosis and treatment principles. Reviewing both conservative and interventional options, we will be understanding when each patient should be managed differently. We will also be looking at more advanced treatments, such as neuromodulation.
Headaches: Finding the right approach - Dr Dougall McCorry, Consultant Neurologist
Dive headfirst into headaches with Dr Dougall McCorry. Understand your patients’ headaches, migraines and the chronic headache patient, as well as being able to spot potentially serious red flags. We will be analysing acute and other chronic headaches, including analgesic overuse, cervicogenic and cluster headache. Non-medical and self-management methods to deal with migraines and other headache types are possible with the right guidance. Identify when these are appropriate, and when more medical therapies are necessary, as well as novel and emerging treatments.
Axial Back Pain & Referred Arm Pain - Mr Chris Brown, Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon
Axial back pain can be a real pain in the neck…or the thoracic, or the lumbar spine! Join Mr Chris Brown to explore cervical, thoracic and low back pain, as well as referred arm pain, from an orthopaedic standpoint. Necessary investigation and examination techniques, such as palpation, MRI and other tests, will be examined with a view to making an accurate diagnosis. Whether the patient presents with sharp, dull, varying or achy pain, we will be understanding what this means for the diagnosis and how we can manage the condition both conservatively and non-conservatively.
