Webinar: Latest Updates In Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

This event is available to purchase on-demand and was first delivered on Thursday 22nd July 2021. Once you've purchased the course, you can watch it immediately from your Oryon Develop dashboard by logging into your account.

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), whether acute or chronic, can extremely reduce your patients’ quality of life, and in rarer prolonged cases can be a debilitating and disabling condition. Symptoms can range from excess pain from something as mild as touch to spontaneous fluctuating pain, such as a burning or pins and needles sensation.

In this interactive webinar, Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia, Dr Nofil Mulla, provides an objective understanding of the fundamentals of CRPS. Click ‘Agenda’ below to read more.

Dr Mulla will be discussing the scale of the problem in the UK and wider populations, helping us to understand its origins, from being triggered by an injury to spontaneously appearing without a known cause.

We will be examining clinical presentation and identifying its characteristics, such as severe pain, swelling, temperature and colour changes and motor dysfunction.

CRPS is a poorly understood and difficult to treat condition, so Dr Mulla will be using a diagnostic and management approach to decipher the precise type of CRPS and best route for each patient. We will consider medications, physical therapies, neural stimulation and touch upon psychotherapies, learning about multidisciplinary team (MDT) management. Alongside this we will be reviewing case studies, literature and current updates on the condition.

Schedule:

  • Scale of the problem of CRPS
  • Clinical presentation
  • Diagnostic approaches
  • Management strategies
  • Case studies, literature & latest updates

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the scope, scale and root causes of the condition
  • Differentiate between symptoms presented and be able to make an accurate diagnosis
  • Learn the skills, knowledge and techniques for management strategies and when an MDT is necessary
