Webinar: Clinical Aspects of Primary Headache Disorders

The most common disorders of the nervous system are headache disorders. With the World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledging that such disorders have been ‘underestimated, under-recognized and under-treated throughout the world’, it is crucial to be able to identify and diagnose the symptoms accurately.

Dr Dominic Paviour, Consultant Neurologist, joins us for this webinar discussing the primary headache syndromes and how to identify and manage them.

This event is available to purchase on-demand and was first delivered on Tuesday 22nd June 2021. Once you've purchased the course, you can watch it immediately from your Oryon Develop dashboard by logging into your account.

Dr Paviour will be using his wealth of experience in the neurological field to inform his talk and ensure that delegates leave with comprehensive knowledge of how to deal with a range of headache disorders.

Using case histories, we will be understanding in-depth syndromes such as migraines, tension-type headaches and cluster headaches. Learn how to recognise the presentation with tests and examination techniques, accurately diagnose them, and know what to do when you spot a red flag.

Managing headaches can often be a complex and difficult task, but with the right strategies in place your patients can drastically improve their quality of life. We will be delving into the medications, lifestyle modifications and complimentary therapies available currently. Considering new medical therapies, including Ajovy and Aimovig for migraines, we will also be weighing up the pros and cons of each.

Schedule:

  • The primary headache syndromes - how to recognise & diagnose them
  • Red flags & what to do
  • Management of headaches
  • New medical therapies
  • Case histories

Learning Outcomes:

  • Differentiate between primary headache disorder symptoms and spot the red flags
  • Learn the skills, knowledge and techniques for accurate diagnosis of headache disorders
  • Understand the management strategies available, including current and new therapies
