This event is available to purchase on-demand and was first delivered on Tuesday 14th December 2021. Once you've purchased the course, you can watch it immediately from your Oryon Develop dashboard by logging into your account.

The ear, nose and throat (ENT) are often related to imbalance conditions such as vertigo. Decipher the differences between ENT and neurological vertigo, as well as the signs of other common ENT conditions.

Come along and hear Consultant ENT Surgeon, Mr Nicholas Eynon-Lewis, and Otorhinolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery Registrar, Mr Daniel Scholfield, talk about common ENT conditions. The talks will include the management of vertigo. Get a taste of expert knowledge in this interactive evening webinar!

In the first half of the evening, we will be delving into three areas of importance in ENT practice.

Nasal obstruction is a common presentation in primary care and may have numerous diagnoses. Learn about unilateral and bilateral signs which may indicate, for example, a structural aetiology, or a possible space-occupying lesion. Discover the timings or triggers which may be causing symptoms and furthermore through using patient case-histories, we will be understanding the diagnosis and best-practice treatments from the surgical to the conservative.

We will be examining the ear for common problems such as infection, glue ear, tinnitus, wax build-up and more. Whether your patients are young or elderly, understand the signs and symptoms to look out for.

Analysing the various parts of the balance system, collaboratively, our speakers will be investigating Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and whether symptoms are ENT-related or neurological. Our second speaker will be delving into the symptoms that can be considered neurological and how to test for these using examination and function testing techniques. We will also look at how these will be dealt with in a multidisciplinary team, to help patients recover the best.

Schedule:

  • Common ear problems
  • Vertigo
  • Nasal Obstruction

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn about common ear problems
  • Identify differences between neurological and ENT causes of vertigo
  • Expand your knowledge on the assessment and management of vertigo
  • Understand the management options for ENT conditions including exercises, medications and surgery
