Webinar: Nutrition Lessons from Covid-19 – Immunity, Gut-health & Recovery

Recent research has revealed how nutrition and supplementation can help fight against Covid-19 and aid recovery from Long Covid Syndrome. One study, published in January 2021, found that ‘the habitual use of vitamin D supplements was significantly associated with a 34% lower risk of COVID-19 infection’1

This webinar with Dr Ese Stacey, Health Consultant, will examine the latest evidence in nutrition to support your patients’ immunity and recovery. We will be discussing the metabolic explanations for Long Covid symptoms, the benefits of supplements, diet and detoxifying the body.

This event is available to purchase on-demand and was first delivered on Wednesday 6th October 2021. Once you've purchased the course, you can watch it immediately from your Oryon Develop dashboard by logging into your account.

Fatigue, brain fog and chronic pain are just a few symptoms of Long Covid. However, it can affect every system of the body and a resurgence of old non-Covid symptoms is not uncommon. Dr Stacey will be asking if there is a metabolic explanation for these symptoms and investigating the dietary factors involved.

Vitamin D has often been a suggestion for immunity from Covid-19 as well as aiding patients through their Long Covid symptoms. We will be analysing the data around these findings and understanding why it helps and why populations have been affected differently. We will also be considering other supplements that may be of use.

Lastly, we will be asking why is diet important? Dr Stacey will be using her extensive knowledge around toxin-associated foods and the gut to highlight why they might have a negative impact on immunity to and recovery from Covid-19.

Schedule:

  • Common symptoms - fatigue, brain fog, chronic pain
  • Is there a metabolic explanation for the symptoms?
  • Vitamin D & other supplements
  • Why is diet important? The impact of toxin associated-foods

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn about the evidence-based research around nutrition and Covid-19
  • Be able to advise your patients on supplementation to aid immunity and Long Covid recovery
  • Understand the effect of toxin-associated foods on bodily systems and how they can be detrimental when combined with Covid

A note from Dr Stacey:

Please note that after more than 30 years of medical practice, I have recently (April 2021) de-registered voluntarily from the General Medical Council (GMC). The reason for this is because my practice (advising and consulting about health - which involves giving advice about diet, your environment and mental/emotional/spiritual health) - falls outside what is required for me to be registered with the GMC. The practice of medicine essentially involves making diagnoses and treating disease with prescriptions or other interventions. My practice does not include this but has a focus on educating you so that you know how your body works in relation to food and the environment. I also help you to identify mental, emotional or spiritual blocks to recovery. I then encourage you to make appropriate changes yourself that will enhance your wellbeing. Of course, if you have a specific diagnosis that arises during our consultations and this diagnosis requires specific medical attention I will advise that you inform your GP or other specialist/s. I will also offer to write to your GP and of course, please do forward any correspondence with me to your GP if you so wish.
