Webinar: Medical Cannabis – Prescriptions & Evidence in the UK

This event is available to purchase on-demand and was first delivered on Monday 12 January 2021.

Gain an insight into pain medicine from a fresh perspective.

Dr Mikael Sodergren, the Managing Director & Academic Lead, and Carl Holvey, Chief Pharmacist, at Sapphire Medical Clinics join us to share their extensive knowledge on medical cannabis.

Delving into the forms of medical cannabis, our speakers will be examining the current situation in the UK. By outlining the conditions it can be prescribed for, such as Chronic Pain, Anxiety and Palliative Care, they will be explaining how it can help your patients when they have tried other conventional treatments. We will be exploring the latest findings in the field using a thoroughly evidence-based approach and learning how the treatment process works for each condition.

How is a patient evaluated and deemed eligible for treatment with the drug? We will be analysing the parameters, including understanding the governance framework, recommendations, and routes of administration.

Lastly, real-world data collection has indicated that there is evidence for clinical uses of medical cannabis in other conditions; we will be discussing the trials taking place currently and the future of the drug in clinical settings.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the conditions which medical cannabis can treat and why
  • Learn the criteria for a patient prescription
  • Identify the benefits and risks in treatments, as well as legal frameworks involved
  • Enhance your knowledge on the future of clinical uses of medical cannabis

  • Medical cannabis in the UK
