Webinar: Radicular Pain – From the Back, Down to The Toes

This event is available to purchase on-demand and was first delivered on Tuesday 19 May 2020.

There is plenty of evidence that after a pandemic, cases of back pain will skyrocket. As a common pathology of back pain, radiculopathies will be something you see in clinic, so this radicular-ously interesting course will be examining causes and treatment of radicular pain, or nerve pain, in the lumbar spine and legs, including when leg pain is referred lumbar issues. Often, when there is an inflamed or compressed nerve root in the lumbar spine, it can radiate down the leg and cause patients to think their pain originates there.

The talk will be delivered by Mr Deepak Ravindran, Pain Management Consultant. He will be delving into the latest research on the topic and giving us the best management tips and treatment options available.

Our speaker will be discussing ways to identify the condition, followed by an evidence-based review of the best practice and the treatment options available for your patients, including current NICE guidelines.

It will include cases where neurological deficits, such as problems with reflexes, numbness, and/or weakness are present and when surgery may be the best option. We will be discussing how these treatment methods are undertaken, patient selection as well as risks, benefits and alternatives for the patients.
