Webinar: Ankle Sprains – To Be or Not To Be?

This event is available to purchase on-demand and was first delivered on Wednesday 2 December 2020.

A sprained ankle is a common injury, but when is there more to a sprain than meets the eye? Sprained ankles are not a homogenous entity. To confuse matters, certain conditions can mimic the common garden variety sprained ankles. It is crucial to accurately diagnose the injury and not label it “just a sprain”.

Not managed properly, complications can arise such as chronic ankle instability to even end stage ankle arthritis.

If ankle sprains are your Achilles' heel, join this interactive webinar featuring Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle conditions, Mr Ahmad Malik.

We will be using case studies and imaging examples to make a differential diagnostic workup and deciding on the best treatment routes depending on the diagnosis. Focusing on non-surgical rehabilitation, Mr Malik ensures that his patients understand their options and have tried all other pathways before surgery is necessary.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the aetiologies, symptoms and differences between true ankle sprains, chronic ankle sprains and conditions which mimic ankle sprains
  • Make a differential diagnosis and spot the signs in imaging examples
  • Enhance your knowledge on how to classify and treat each condition conservatively depending on the severity

  • Ankle sprains
  • High ankle sprains
  • Chronic ankle sprains
  • Conditions which mimic ankle sprains
  • Investigations and imaging
  • Differential diagnosis
  • Rehabilitation options – non-surgical approach
