Shoulder pain or injury

Shoulder pain can limit everyday movement, disrupt sleep and make lifting or reaching difficult. Injuries may occur suddenly or develop over time through overuse. When symptoms persist despite rest or physiotherapy, imaging can help clarify the cause. MRI scans are particularly effective for assessing tendons, muscles and joint structures within the shoulder.

Shoulder MRI scans are commonly used to assess:

  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Tendon inflammation or degeneration
  • Labral tears
  • Joint instability
  • Soft tissue injuries

Scan for shoulder pain

A shoulder MRI scan is a safe, painless and non-invasive way to understand what’s happening inside your shoulder. It does not use radiation and is particularly useful for diagnosing soft tissue injuries that may not show clearly on X‑ray.

  • Persistent shoulder pain
  • Weakness or reduced range of movement
  • Symptoms following injury or trauma
  • Pain that worsens with activity or lifting
  • Ongoing symptoms despite physiotherapy
