Hip pain or injury

Hip pain can affect walking, sitting and everyday movement. Symptoms such as stiffness, clicking, reduced range of motion or pain that worsens with activity may indicate joint or soft tissue problems. MRI scans allow detailed assessment of the hip joint and surrounding structures, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Hip MRI scans are commonly used to assess:

  • Cartilage damage
  • Labral tears
  • Tendon or muscle injuries
  • Stress fractures
  • Early joint degeneration

MRI scan for hip pain

A hip MRI scan is often recommended when hip symptoms persist, worsen, or limit movement, and when a clear diagnosis is needed to guide treatment.

  • Persistent hip or groin pain
  • Stiffness or reduced range of movement
  • Pain that worsens with walking, running or activity
  • Symptoms following injury or trauma
  • Ongoing symptoms despite rest or physiotherapy
