The hip is one of the most stable joints in the body; however, as it holds your body weight, it is very likely to develop some unwanted injuries and conditions as a result of the extra pressure.

We are pleased to be joined by Mr Emeka Oragui, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who will inform you on popular orthopaedic hip conditions and how to treat them. From hip osteoarthritis to keyhole hip surgery, Mr Orgaui will review the causes, diagnosis and treatment options to help your patients.

Don't skip this hip talk, where you will gain 2 additional CPD hours’ and discover common hip conditions.

Osteoarthritis is a condition that most commonly affects those aged over 45 years old, with its most common symptom being pain. Hip pain is frequent in adults, especially the older generation. Mr Oragui will go over the symptoms and treatment options, as well as how to help your patient live with the condition.

While hip conditions are most prevalent in people over 45 years of age, one condition can affect younger individuals. Hip impingement, also known as femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), affects those under 40. Hip impingement can affect someone without realising it as it doesn't present any pain in the early stages. Mr Oragui will help you understand how to look for symptoms to find a quick diagnosis and treatment options.

While hip conditions can occur naturally over time, many injuries occur environmentally. A lot of common hip injuries are caused by sports. Mr Oragui will be going through injuries that often happen in the hips. Find out how to help treat your patients.

Another hip-related condition is lower cross syndrome (LCS), which occurs in those with a sedentary lifestyle. Sitting for prolonged periods can cause an imbalance between the muscles to develop. LCS can affect both posture and movement. Mr Orgaui will be going over both types of these syndromes, how they occur and how to treat them.

A hip arthroscopy, otherwise known as keyhole surgery, can aid in diagnosing and the treatment hip pain. Mr Oragui will explain how arthroscopy can be used and the procedure's benefits.

Many hip conditions may result in hip replacements. To conclude, Mr Oragui will end this webinar by delving into how hip surgery, one of the most successful operations, has now developed into a one-day procedure, allowing patients to go home the same day and recover more comfortably in a familiar environment.

Schedule:

  • Hip osteoarthritis
  • Hip impingement
  • Sports injuries around the hip
  • Lower cross syndrome
  • Keyhole hip surgery
  • Day case hip replacement

Learning outcomes:

  • Find out when should hip arthroscopy be used for diagnosing hip conditions
  • Learn which common hip conditions can be managed conservatively or through surgery
