What is a scan referral?
A referral is a physical or electronic document that outlines the type of scan you need based on your medical history.
Can everyone get a scan referral?
It may not be appropriate for everyone to have a scan based on their medical history and current symptoms; the referrals are made on a case-by-case basis.
Why do I need a scan referral?
You will need a referral to ensure you receive the most appropriate diagnostic test and a suitable aftercare plan or treatment. You’ll need a referral to book any scan except for DEXA scans, which you can self-refer for.
Who can make a scan referral and how do they refer?
A GP, Consultant, Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Chiropractor or other qualified healthcare professional is able to make a referral on your behalf. A referral can be made online or by emailing us a completed copy of our referral form.
