Dr Philip Woodland is Consultant Gastroenterologist and Senior Lecturer at the Royal London Hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust). Privately he works within London Digestive Health, a group of expert teaching hospital gastroenterologists.
Dr Woodland graduated from University College London Medical School and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He was awarded a PhD from Queen Mary University of London for his research into gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. After completion of his PhD he was awarded a prestigious NIHR Clinical Lectureship at the Royal London Hospital, where he continued his research into oesophageal disorders, and completed his training in advanced endoscopy. He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the same hospital.
Dr Woodland has authored numerous papers and book chapters on gastrointestinal disease. He is on the editorial board for the Neurogastroenterology & Motility Journal, and is a member of the Bowel and Cancer Research Grants committee.
