Webinar: Head to Toe – An Online Orthopaedic Masterclass

Oryon Develop are excited to announce our first online orthopaedic masterclass, featuring 7 brilliant consultants from North Downs Hospital.

We have now split the talks into two sessions – the mornings of Saturday 7th and Saturday 14th November – but all delegates will receive the full package. Both sessions will be recorded and sent out to all delegates booked on (even if you book on between the first and second session), so don’t worry if you can’t make a live session.

Topics will range from diagnosing and managing lumbar spine sports injuries to vascular conditions throughout the body. Attendees will leave with enhanced knowledge of specific orthopaedic topics and 8 hours of CPD.

Agenda

Saturday 7th November, 9am - 12.30pm:

Presentation of Common Conditions in the Upper Limb, by Mr Ali Shafighian, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Shafighian has put this talk together to explore the latest developments in diagnosis and management of elbow and shoulder conditions. He will share his own diagnostic workup to better inform attendees’ own practise, as well as his insight into conservative treatments before surgery becomes necessary.

Treatment Duration in Osteoporosis, by Dr Rizwan Rajak, Consultant Rheumatologist

Dr Rajak has designed this course to explore best practice in osteoporosis treatment, with a focus on the importance of the 5-year review, bisphosphonate risks, supplements and when to refer. As a highly sought-after Rheumatologist, Dr Rajak has many years of experience in cooperative management of osteoporosis alongside allied health professionals. His depth of knowledge will be very useful to attendees who see patients with diagnosed or un-diagnosed osteoporosis.

The Musculoskeletal System Affecting Blood Vessels, by Mr Gary Maytham, Consultant Vascular Surgeon

Mr Maytham is a welcome addition to our line-up. He will be examining Popliteal Entrapment Syndrome, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and Iliac Endofibrosis, which may affect your patients’ musculoskeletal systems. We will be discussing how such conditions can cause chronic and acute pains from causes such as trauma, poor posture or obesity, the signs to look out for, investigations that can be done for diagnosis, and conservative treatments. In more problematic cases, we will look at when surgeries, such as Transaxillary approach, may be needed.

Saturday 14th November, 9am - 1.30pm:

Hot topics in ACL injury management, by Mr Bobby Anand, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

We’re excited to have him back for this event, where he will be speaking on the latest updates on management of ACL injuries. Mr Anand is an expert in operative and non-operative management of knee injuries and will share his fascinating insight with a focus on the ACL. He will also explore the new options open to AHPs who are looking to refer patients onward, including robot surgery.

The Common & The Complex - Hand & Wrist Conditions, by Mr Oliver Harley, Consultant Plastic and Orthopaedic Surgeon

With the expertise of Mr Harley, we will be exploring various hand and wrist pathophysiologies. From DeQuervains tenosynovitis to Ganglia, Boutonnière Injury, and finger dislocations, we will be covering both common and complex conditions to ensure you spot the red-flags, understand their aetiologies and make an accurate diagnosis. Mr Harley will be advising us on the best rehabilitation methods available and latest in orthopaedic research.

Evidence-based keyhole bunion surgery - plus rapid recovery keyhole sports foot and ankle surgery, by Mr Kumar Kunasingam, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Kunasingam is a foot and ankle surgeon with a huge amount of experience in management of bunions and sports injuries. He has designed this talk with a focus on keyhole surgery, including cooperative management with his allied health professional peers.
